Authorized private recycling and waste companies provide commercial recycling and trash collection services throughout the unincorporated area.
Find haulers that service your area.

Green Business Program
Is your restaurant or automotive facility interested in saving money, protecting the environment, and improving your business? Learn more about the County of San Diego's green business program for free assistance and advice.  


Work in the construction and demolition industry?
Most items can be recycled or reused at a lower cost than landfilling. Consult the County’s guide for planning your project and locations for recycling.

Special Events Recycling
If you are holding a large event in the unincorporated County of San Diego, recycling bins will be provided free of charge, as available. Please call (858) 874-4285 to arrange for recycling bins to be delivered to your event. 


CalMAX materials exchange
CalMAX
is a free service designed to help businesses find markets for materials they have traditionally discarded. CalMAX helps divert thousands of tons of valuable materials annually and establishes practical collaborations between business organizations in our community.


Oil bottle and filterOil recycling services
Grants are available to support the collection and recycling of used motor oil and filters. If your business is interested in offering free collection to the public, you may eligible for free equipment and reimbursement of related costs. Agricultural recycling
A private-public partnership is helping San Diego’s growers recycle more farm and ranch materials, beginning with motor oil and plastic chemical containers. If your business is interested in serving as an agricultural oil collection site, you may qualify for free equipment and reimbursement of related costs. Does your business make products made from recycled materials?
The Recycling Market Development Zone (RMDZ) program offers low-interest loans, marketing and permit assistance to businesses that are located in designated areas of the County.  RMDZ’s are located in North and South San Diego County.  Learn more at www.ciwmb.ca.gov/RMDZ/NoSanDiego or call (858) 874-4081.

Want to know where to recycle just about anything? The County of San Diego’s recycling and household hazardous waste hotline and online database are free and easy ways to find out how to reduce, reuse and recycle. Search our online database at www.wastefreesd.org or call 1-877-R-1-EARTH (1-877-713-2784) to speak with our bilingual (English/Spanish) hotline representatives who are available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.   Call 1-877-R-1-EARTH (1-877-713-2784).  Hotline staff can also schedule appointments for you to properly dispose of your household hazardous waste.
